Paint, Body & Interior Instructions
Work Scope
The work scope is body, paint, glass, and interior only.
I will provide almost all of the welting, weather strip, rubber, insulaton, fastener kits, etc.
NO work to be done on frame, driveline, etc.
The front
inner
fenders are powder coated black, do not paint or fill any holes.
Return old wiring harness,
but do
not
rewire.
Wheels & tires will be replaced later, do not paint or powder coat wheels.
Disassembly
The truck was temporarily assembled without welting, but with new fasteners. Save fasteners for final assembly.
Remove old wiring harness & return it. Do not rewire vehicle after final assembly.
Body Work
Strip to bare metal, remove dents, straighten, primer, base coat, clear coat.
Minimal body filler, pound out dents.
Fill in holes marked with "X".
Fill in holes in roof.
Do
not
weld fenders together.
Special Insructons for Bed
Straighten front panel (at cab).
Move rear fenders forward, center opening over tire, if possible.
Make running boards meet rear fender.
Tuck rear bumper, but do not modify the front bumper.
Paint
Color: Torch Red, from Ford Thunderbird,
1955 Paint Code R
or
2002-2005 Paint Code D3
The entire truck is to be painted monotone - everything Torch Red (grille, running boards, cab inside & out, gas tank, etc.). No black paint.
Lizard skin underbody, including wheel wells & underside of bed (wood).
Rhino liner running boards & bed in red (matching paint as close as possible); rhino line bed up to tailgate heigh.
Ford script on tailgate in same color as interior
Steering colum in red, or matching interior (not black)
Do not paint or modify the inner fenders, which are already powder coated black.
Final Assembly
We temporarily reassembled the truck with new cab mounts & rubber, but no welting was used.
Reassemble with welting.
Install provided stainless grille bars
New glass all around
Put supplied chain covers on tail gate (or use clear covers)
Do not install any wiring.
Interior
Tan/beige carpet & cloth seat (need to pick color and fabric)
New headliner and door covering.
The seat does not need to be so springy, please make it a little firmer and
thinner
, especially the seat back!
Fully insulate the cab: floor, roof, doors, firewall, etc. I will send over some Dynamat, but it will not be enough, you will need to add some more.
Reinstall the instrument cluster, but do
not
rewire.
